ATSC

Bristol, UK, 10th September 2024 – DTVKit announced today its integration of the new ATSC 3.0 software stack into its suite of market-proven broadcast software components. As part of this strategic move, DTVKit has also formally joined the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), reinforcing its commitment to driving innovation in digital broadcasting.

DTVKit is a shared-source community offering its members a comprehensive suite of standards-based software components, including DVB, HbbTV, and CI Plus software stacks. With the addition of ATSC 3.0, also known as NextGen TV, DTVKit enhances its portfolio with the latest digital broadcasting standard that delivers a wide range of benefits for both broadcasters and viewers.

Next-generation TV, or ATSC 3.0, leverages an Internet Protocol backbone to deliver high-quality video and audio, interactive features, advanced emergency alerts, and more. It supports both fixed and mobile devices, enabling 4K resolution and immersive audio formats. ATSC 3.0 is being rapidly deployed in the US and globally, including recently announced Brazil, providing consumers access via compatible TVs or external tuner devices.

DTVKit plans to release its version of ATSC 3.0 to its member community in Q1 of 2025. It is expected to help members improve the efficiency of deploying video services across IP and hybrid QAM/DVB set-top boxes and TVs.

By working closely with its members, DTVKit aims to not only accelerate the delivery of advanced broadcast solutions but also reduce R&D costs, allowing members to focus on adding value to their products more quickly, with full source code access, free from royalty fees.
