DTVKit today announces the availability of its new production‑ready DVB‑I Client, developed in collaboration with Ocean Blue Software (OBS). The DVB‑I Client is now included as part of DTVKit membership, giving TV and set‑top-box manufacturers a practical, standards‑aligned route to DVB‑I adoption with minimal integration effort.
DVB‑I is moving from trials into real‑world deployment across Europe, with growing interest from operators and manufacturers globally. As hybrid and IP‑delivered television expands, DVB‑I is becoming a key interoperability layer that enables consistent service discovery, richer metadata, and more flexible distribution models.
Manufacturers are increasingly seeking reliable, future‑proof implementations that reduce fragmentation and accelerate time to market. The DVB‑I Client addresses these needs with a highly optimised C++ implementation that typically uses 5-10 times less memory than browser‑based alternatives – making it suitable for cost‑sensitive and low‑RAM devices.
A DTVKit product designed for immediate adoption
The new DVB‑I Client provides full support for the latest registry and service list discovery developments, including:
- Service list retrieval and federated discovery
- Restart and catch-up metadata
- Pop‑up services
- Rich programme metadata
- Integration with DVB‑I registries and test environments
The client is designed for seamless integration across major TV OS platforms such as Android, RDK, and Linux‑based systems. DTVKit also provides an Android TIF‑based reference integration to simplify development and reduce OEM/ODM integration time. Both the DVB‑I Client and the Android reference integration are supplied as full source code, giving manufacturers complete flexibility and control.
OBS as DTVKit’s trusted testing and integration support partner
The DVB‑I Client is delivered and maintained as a DTVKit product, available to DTVKit members. For manufacturers requiring deeper technical assistance, Ocean Blue Software provides optional paid integration, testing, and validation services.
