DTVKit has been working hard to provide a standard way to include DVB support into the RDK platform. We are delivering the platform with a defined profile of RDK 4.0. This enables smaller satellite operators and OEMs that service them to start on the RDK journey and take advantage of what they have to offer.
Technically, how does the Hybrid White Label platform work?
We are delivering a UI based on Video Accelerator (VA) from RDK which includes several example apps. A sample DVB application is included to show application developers how to use the DTVKit RDK service to perform core functions such as channel scans, retrieve EPG and detailed programme information. It also initiates playback of a selected service. Full source code for the App is available from the RDK repositories for App developers to use as a reference.
The boxes will be suitable to use as a development platform, a demonstrator or to deliver a Proof of Concept. RDK has been very supportive to DTVKit and are including it in their formal releases. This makes it very easy for members and non-members to evaluate RDK + DTVKit as a full Hybrid solution. The plan is to deliver this prebuilt, in the form of the Hybrid White Label box that is representative of a real Hybrid STB experience.
